Director of Worship and Music wanted at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church

We’re looking for someone who loves everything from “A Mighty Fortress” to “10,000 Reasons” to “Siyahamba” and brings in different services like Holden Evening Prayer; someone who thrives working with a team that includes our Pastor, Worship Committee, and choir; a person who takes joy in the efforts of amateurs to participate in worship. Your resources can include soloists to ensembles and from handbells to a djembe and more!

This position reports directly to the Pastor and is:
Part-time (10 – 20 hours a week)
Salaried: $2,000 a month depending on experience
Determined in-part by interview and choir audition
Currently open and starts as soon as possible
Includes one-week paid vacation (not including Sundays) and plus two Sundays
Job requirements:
A working knowledge of Lutheran, Protestant worship practice
Competence in piano and organ playing and choral directing.
Experience in programming and arranging worship music
A desire to grow in musical skills as well as explore personal spiritual meaning
Responsibilities:
Meet weekly with the Pastor to plan and coordinate worship services
Select music and prepare necessary musicians to engage the congregation in active and meaningful ways in worship
Lead or arrange leadership of music portions of the worship service
Recruit and lead volunteers related to worship music, including, but not limited to, vocalists, instrumentalists.
Incorporate skills of church members of all ages, including children, in a variety of music forms
Submit music selections and arrangements in a timely manner to secretary
Review musical portions of AV projections
Plan special music for liturgical seasons and special occasions i.e. Lent, Advent, and Christmas
Coordinate with the Pastor, the musicians, and accompaniment for special services i,e. weddings, funerals,
Arrange a substitute when not available
Maintain the music library and office
Oversee all licensing and copyright issues for music utilized by the church
Oversee the maintenance and care of all worship equipment, instruments, within the confines of designated budget
General
Must be eligible for a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and background check
