A warm welcome to Dan Potaznick, Director of Generosity and Strategic Development

We welcome Dan Potaznick to the Office of the Bishop team. This week he begins as Director of Generosity and Strategic Development.

Dan is called to the Grand Canyon Synod to help congregations & leaders across the desert in their mission to share the Good News of Jesus. In addition to serving the Grand Canyon Synod, Dan has been called as Associate Pastor for Outreach to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Glendale, AZ. Bishop Hutterer will ordain Dan as a Minister of Word and Sacrament on March 18th, 2023.

Dan grew up Lutheran on Long Island in an interfaith household, experiencing God through both Christian & Jewish traditions. He earned his B.S in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the State University of New York at Buffalo and earned his MDiv in 2018 as a member of United Lutheran Seminary’s first graduating class.

After seminary, Dan served on the staff of Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA as Lead Development Officer in charge of major gift strategy. Feeling a call to strategic development within the ELCA, he earned his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential signifying a commitment to proven and ethical fundraising standards.

Moving to Phoenix in the summer of 2022, Dan is called to the Grand Canyon Synod to help congregations & leaders across the desert in their mission to share the Good News of Jesus. In addition to serving the Grand Canyon Synod, Dan has been called as Associate Pastor for Outreach to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Glendale, AZ. Bishop Hutterer will ordain Dan as a Minister of Word and Sacrament on March 18th, 2023. He resides in the North Mountain Village neighborhood of Phoenix with his wife Randi and three adorable cats.
