A Faithful Transition: Celebrating Pastor Dew’s Leadership and Looking Ahead

As we approach the conclusion of Pastor James Dew’s tenure as Interim Director for Evangelical Mission on July 31, 2024, we reflect on his remarkable contribution. Stepping into a complex role previously held by Pastor Miguel Gomez-Acosta, Pastor Dew has seamlessly bridged connections between the Churchwide organization and our synod, demonstrating exemplary leadership and a deep pastoral heart.

Throughout his term, Pastor Dew has been instrumental in guiding vital initiatives such as the Mission and Ministry Task Force and the New and Renewing Team. His efforts have ensured robust support and connection with Synodically Authorized Worshipping Communities (SAWCs) and Strategic Ministries across Arizona and Nevada, enhancing our outreach and spiritual community significantly.

Among the many communities Pastor Dew has supported are the Agape Campus Ministry in Tempe, the Armenian Evangelical Church in Las Vegas, and the innovative West Valley Young Adult Ministry in Glendale. Each of these ministries reflects the diverse and dynamic spirit of our synod, driven by Pastor Dew’s leadership.

Pastor Dew’s commitment extends beyond administrative duties; his approach to ministry is deeply embedded in nurturing ethnic-specific leadership and maintaining rigorous training programs. His work has been pivotal in overseeing the Churchwide grant process, crucial for the sustainability of our ministries.

As Pastor Dew plans to step back and explore new beginnings post-retirement, we extend our deepest gratitude for his service. His leadership has not only impacted our current operations but has also laid a strong foundation for the future growth and vibrancy of our synod’s ministries.

Let us celebrate the dedication and faith-driven work of Pastor James Dew as we look forward to continuing the legacy of transformation and community he has helped build within the Grand Canyon Synod.
