2024 Manna Grants: Apply Now to Combat Hunger in Our Synod

We are excited to announce that applications for the 2024 Manna Grants are now open! For the third consecutive year, the Manna Grant program will support new and continuing projects within our synod that focus on alleviating hunger and addressing its root causes. Approximately $20,000 in funding is available this year.

Eligible applicants include all organized congregations, New Starts, Synodically Authorized Worshipping Communities (SAWCs), and Strategic Ministries of the Grand Canyon Synod. Projects must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in leadership and decision-making.

To apply, complete the Manna Grant application form and submit it to office@gcsynod.org by midnight on September 13, 2024. Applications that omit any requested information will be affected in their scoring. For any questions regarding the application process, contact Theresa Thornburgh in the Office of the Bishop at office@gcsynod.org or 602-957-3223.

The Manna Grant program was established to honor the legacy of Orpha Hoganson, a dedicated member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Paradise Valley. Orpha’s estate contributed $180,000 to the church for local and global hunger relief, and her generous spirit continues to inspire this initiative.

Orpha Hoganson, a beloved librarian, and world traveler, was deeply moved by the poverty and hunger she witnessed throughout her life. Her contributions have made a significant impact on our community, and the Manna Grant program ensures her legacy lives on by supporting vital hunger relief projects.

Join us in continuing Orpha’s mission to fight hunger and uplift lives. Apply for the 2024 Manna Grant and make a difference in your community.
