New Song Lutheran Church in Henderson, Nevada is looking to fill a position for a Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries.

• Position Title: Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries (CYF Director)

• Reports To: Lead Pastor

Summary

The CYF Director we seek is a strong disciple of Jesus Christ who has the gifts and passion to develop the faith of the children and families of New Song Lutheran Church. This full-time position will primarily engage people from birth through college-age disciples. The CYF Director will lead programs and develop a team of volunteers to lead other ministries. In addition, they will provide opportunities to connect New Song Academy (our preschool) to the life of the congregation. The position requires an active faith life, experience working with children, excellent critical thinking, organizational, and people skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage Sunday School on Sunday mornings. Collaborate with Sunday School superintendent to grow the ministry.

• Lead/coordinate high school youth ministry.

• Lead/coordinate middle school ministry, including a Confirmation curriculum.

• Lead/coordinate elementary school ministry.

• Plan, organize, and coordinate a week-long Vacation Bible School each summer and two weeks of Camp

• Hope, including attending a Camp Hope training program if necessary.

• Plan and coordinate the annual youth Christmas program.

• Recruit and train leaders.

• Communicate regularly and in a timely fashion with parents; nurture relationships with children and their families.

• Attend weekly staff meetings.

• Develop systems of feedback for all major Children’s Ministry programs and events. Assist in analyzing and improving systems already in place.

• Develop and coordinate Children’s Ministry calendar with staff; maintain excellent organizational systems.

• Assist in developing and implementing policies that ensure the safety of our children, staff, and volunteers.

• Develop and be accountable to CYF budget; purchase supplies and travel coordination.

• Develop a strategy to connect New Song Academy to the life of the congregation.

Qualifications

• College degree required; background or degree in children and youth ministry strongly preferred.

• Ability to articulate Lutheran theology.

• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, open-mindedness and openness to change.

• Ability to receive and adapt to feedback; teachable.

• Strong administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Shows initiative as well as follow-through.

• Ability to work independently; team player who will work toward our common goal.

• Active, demonstrated faith, and the ability to articulate it.

• Must be willing to travel with youth to events and ministry projects as needed.
