ELCA Teaching Theologians Presentation
In early August Bishop Talmage was invited to join 60 of the teaching theologians of the ELCA at California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks to address the question of the meaning of the Church in the 21st Century with a particular look at the ELCA and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. Bishop Talmage invites you to read and use as you wish the piece he presented and notes from the four presentations of the conference.
Bishop's Convocation for Rostered Leaders
You are invited to hear Dr. Walter Brueggemann at this year's Convocation scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, October 18 and 19. For more information about the presentations read the attached flyer. The Convocation will be held at Desert Cross Lutheran Church at 8600 S. McClintock Drive in Tempe.

Fees
The fee is $75 for GCS Rostered Leaders and Full communion partners and includes all materials and dinner on Monday. The fee for GCS retired rostered leaders is $35 and an additional $10 if you wish to purchase the Monday dinner. More information below about registering and paying.

Missional Leadership Academy
We are currently inviting congregations in the Grand Canyon Synod to consider having a team join the next missional leadership class of 2012. This 18 month leadership training program begins in fall of 2009 and concludes in January 2012. For more information check out their web site and view their brochure. Pulpit Supply
Please review the Pulpit Supply list of names and availability information for folks who are willing to provide pulpit supply to our congregations. The Synod recommends that you provide at least $150 for one service of preaching and $50 for each additional service the same weekend. Mileage should be reimbursed as well as any other travel-related costs.
Ministry Staff, Transition, and Head of Staff Seminars, January 29-February 6 (2011)
These are seminars for those who serve in staff settings, newly called senior/head of staff pastors, and a seminar for those who have recently moved from one ministry setting to another. The seminars are jointly sponsored by the Vocation and Education unit of the ELCA and Augsburg College. For more information and to register online, go to theLeadership Support Events website.
